● How does the Free CLE work?
○ Any Texas lawyer can take CLE for FREE. The coupon code to use at checkout is FreeCLE. It will reduce the cost of your shopping cart to zero. NOTE: Use New Customer when getting your first course, even if you are an “old” TLIE customer. The account you will set up is a personal one, and you can create a new password.
● Who do I contact about scheduling an in-person CLE for insured law firm/ a law school / bar association group?
○ TLIE offers in person CLEs to its member law firms, bar and lawyer association groups, inns of court, and law schools. We offer CLE on a variety of ethics and best practices issues, as well as training for non-lawyer staff to help a firm ensure that their non-lawyer staff are in compliance with the lawyer’s ethical duties and responsibilities. · What do I do if an attorney joins/leaves after the policy goes into effect?
o You do not need to contact TLIE about any mid-term attorney changes. Indicate the change on your next renewal application (see article 1 of the policy).
· What do I need to do to change my Firm’s name?
o You do not need to contact TLIE about any mid-term firm name changes. Indicate the change on your next renewal application (see article 1 of the policy). If the firm is changing significantly (into a materially new firm - then contact TLIE to see if you will need to complete a new business application)
· How do I obtain my updated Declaration Page?
o In the portal (If you completed an online application); Otherwise, email info@tlie.org and we will send one to you.
· How do I check the status of my application?
o Under normal circumstances, you should receive a quote within three business days. If it has been past that time, check your email and spam filter. Otherwise, please be patient and an underwriter will contact you if they require any additional information.
· What happens to my Retroactive Date if I’m insured with another firm?
o Attach a copy of your current policy with the declarations page and any endorsements (with a completed new business application) so the underwriters can consider any prior acts coverage.
Note: This only will apply if the firm applying is currently insured, not if you are a member of another law firm that has insurance.
· How do I access TLIE's portal?

· Will my auto pay continue at renewal?
o Clients must first manually submit their initial payment to renew their policy. Auto pay will resume with the installment payments.
· Will I be charged a fee for paying by credit card?
o There are no additional fees to pay by credit card.
· Why have I not received an invoice this month?
o Your payment plan may be paid in full, or our system has not invoiced you for the current month. Invoices are sent electronically two weeks prior to the due date.
· What is a claims made policy?
o A claims-made insurance policy covers claims that are made and reported to the insurance company during the policy period. The policyholder must be insured when the claim is made for it to be covered.
· How do I apply for a policy?

· Do you provide coverage for attorneys that have a primary practice in other states?
o The majority of a firm's practice must be in Texas.
· What limits should I purchase?

o Texas Lawyers Professional Insurance Agency (a subsidiary of TLIE) offers a BOP designed specifically to protect law firms through a partnership with The Hanover. Please call 888-780-5386 or email TexLawIns@hanover.com.
· How do I take the TLIE-sponsored CLE courses?
o To create an account and take the TLIE CLE courses, please follow the instructions below. Each attorney would need to create their own account (using their barcard number as the user name), if they have not already done so.

Click the " Add" button of the courses you want to take.
(if renewing a TLIE policy, each attorney must complete at least two hours of courses)
Then click "Proceed to Cart".
The next screen is going to let you "Create an Account" or “Login” (if already have an account).
Once logged in, there is going to be a field below the credit card/PayPal account request,
which asks: "Do you have a coupon?"
Enter the code given to you in your top tips email to bring your total to $0.
That should do it! You should be able to access your courses at this point from the Dashboard.

· What is the deadline to return my renewal application?
o You’ll want to return your completed renewal application 2 – 3 weeks prior to your renewal date, to provide sufficient time to provide renewal terms and have your payment in our office by your renewal date to avoid a gap in coverage.

o Did your policy expire more than 3 months ago? If so, please complete a new business application.
· How can I access a copy of my Declarations?
o Your declarations page was emailed to you shortly after you made your initial payment. Please search your email inbox for this.

· What kinds of discounts do you offer?
o We have CLE discounts available, but only for renewal applicants. These do not apply to new business.
· What type of insurance is this?
o The insurance we offer includes professional liability insurance for Texas lawyers and judges, as well as additional coverage options like cyber insurance and business owner’s policies. The LPL products are claims-made policies, Would you like more details on any specific type? 😊

o It’s pretty straightforward, attorneys with <5 years of private practice experience may qualify for the New Attorney Essential program which comes at a reduced premium for the same coverage that a more experienced attorney would qualify for.
o Part-time attorneys qualify for a Part-time Essential program.
o These programs are only offered at 100K/300K 1K deductible limits.
o Some attorneys have a different definition of what private practice experience means. We define it as: “YEARS IN PRIVATE PRACTICE: How many total years of private practice experience does the attorney have from the time they were licensed to present? Private Practice means: Working as a sole practitioner or for a law firm which is independent of any corporate or governmental control or ownership.”
· Website is stuck or can't progress past a page

· I got served with a lawsuit. I have been sued. What do I do?
o If you are a current insured and need to submit a claim with Texas Lawyers' Insurance Exchange (TLIE), you should report the matter as soon as practicable. Here's what you can do:
Contact TLIE: Call them at 1-800-252-9332 (Texas only) or (512) 480-9074 (in Austin).
Send Written Notice: Provide written notice of the matter to TLIE at the following address:

· I received a letter that was addressed to a different attorney?
o We are aware that some marketing materials went out, addressed to incorrect attorneys (and to current Insureds who should have never received them to begin with). We understand that receiving an incorrect mailer can be frustrating, and we apologize for any inconvenience or concern it may have caused. We want to assure you that this was a technical error and that your TLIE account has not been affected or changed in any way. Our team is working diligently to resolve this issue and ensure that all future mailers are accurate and up-to-date.”
· Am I on autopay?
o If you open the invoice attachment that was included with your billing email, the bottom of the invoice tells you if you are on autopay.
· Will my auto pay continue at renewal?
o Clients must submit their initial payment to renew their policy. Auto pay will resume with the installment payments.
· When will I receive my dec./declarations page?
o Our declarations page will be emailed out within 24 business hours of you making your initial payment.
· When does my policy renew?
o Your policy renewal application will be emailed to your email on file ~60 days prior to your current policy's expiration date. It will have been emailed from app@tlie.org. Please check your spam folders.
· Where do I find my member/client number?
o Your member number stays with your firm, and does not change. It can be found on any previous quote or policy declarations page that we emailed to you in the past. You can also access it in our customer portal using just your email:

· How is the malpractice premium calculated- by attorney?
o Each attorney has their own rating factor based mainly on their overall legal experience, years of prior acts covered under this policy, amongst other things.
Law clerks are not charged-for. Independent Contractor attorneys and of counsel attorneys are charged for depending on how many hours per week they work for the firm.
· I want to renew.

· If the firm hires a contract attorney on a limited basis are the contract attorneys legal services covered under the firm’s E & O policy?
o Yes, but they should be reported to TLIE on the application.
· How do I obtain a Loss Run?
o We'll need a human to generate that for you. Please email us at info@tlie.org so that we can verify your email and we will promptly send over a loss run report.
· How do I know if I received CLE credit?
o TLIE reports TLIE-sponsored courses to the State Bar on a weekly basis. If after a week’s time, you find you have not been given credit for a course you have taken, please contact TLIE’s CLE Coordinator at sbresett@tlie.org.
· I took a CLE class week - how do I get credit?
